In Fortnite Battle Royale, weapons have 5 tier of rarities. higher rarity increase the stat of the weapons but also makes them harder to find.

Other than at the beginning of the game if it’s the only weapon you found, SMGs aren’t really useful right now. Their damage is low. They shoot fast but the spread is hard to control.
